Kindergarten registration for all Tyler ISD comprehensive and choice elementary schools opens Thursday, April 15. Parents and guardians of the future Class of 2034 graduates can visit www.tylerisd.org/kinder to learn more about kindergarten in Tyler ISD and complete the registration process online.

“Our top priority as kindergarten teachers is for students to be excited about school,” Tyler ISD kindergarten teacher, Miranda Duncan, said. “We want them to feel very loved, welcomed, and safe. When they feel safe, they open up, are expressive, and ready to learn. Many students think of their kindergarten teachers as their ‘school moms,’ and we love that!”

Research continues to show children in kindergarten classes tend to have better cognitive skills, higher IQs, improved social interactions, and a more profound love for learning. Children who have a good learning start are also likely to be more innovative and successful.

“Choosing the right kindergarten program enriches your child’s learning experience,” Tyler ISD Executive Director of Communications Jennifer Hines said. “An excellent kindergarten program offers a variety of fun and engaging experiences that feeds their curiosity for learning more about their environments and the outside world. Tyler ISD’s comprehensive kindergarten program will bring out the best in your young learner every day.”

Along with enrollment information, the District’s kindergarten webpage includes a free Kindergarten Readiness Checklist and other valuable parent resources to help prepare students for a successful start this fall. Parents can also call their elementary school to schedule a personal tour.

Tyler ISD also has openings in Head Start, regular Pre-K, and tuition-based Pre-K programs. Pre-K information is available at www.tylerisd.org/prek.
