High school graduations can be such a momentous time; displaying a sense of accomplishment in a young person’s life and Tyler ISD’s RISE Academy recognizes this moment in a very special way.

Ringing the Bell of Completion is a campus tradition where students put on a cap and gown and walk down the RISE hallway in front of their teachers and peers. They ring a bell that is mounted on the wall to signify they have completed their required hours needed to graduate.

Jahnaschia Moore was one of four graduates who recently rang the bell in front of her RISE family. She said she was excited and nervous for this moment. Shaletha Richard, her Next Step Counselor said, “It is so rewarding to see her graduate today!”

This tradition is just part of what Dr. Dexter Floyd, RISE Director, brings to the program.  I’m so proud of my students and what they have accomplished this year,” Dr. Floyd said. “We have 63 students who have graduated so far. I really believe in RISE’s motto that, ‘We’re not your last chance, but we’re your next opportunity.’ We get excited whenever this day comes and I always ask at the end of the day when we’ve had our bell ringing, ‘Who’s next?’”

Congratulations to all our RISE students for this outstanding accomplishment!
