elementary age students sitting at a table doing artwork

This morning during their Art Class rotation, Clarkston Elementary School students were delighted to design their own paper monkeys after seeing them at the Caldwell Zoo. They learned hand-eye coordination, gluing the pieces together, and drawing faces. Their teacher pointed out that the monkeys the students designed were all unique, just like all humans. The children smiled and laughed when they were handed the twisted tails to tape on as the last part of their artwork project. The students then talked about what monkeys can do with their beautiful tails.

STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
