middle and high school students stand in group in front of Early College High School Signing Day sign

On Tuesday evening, over 140 current eighth and ninth-grade students received admission certificates into the region’s top-rated high school. Early College High School Principal Amanda Hortman, Tyler Junior College Director of District Partnerships Jeanie Oxler, and Director of Student Success and Promise Program Matthew Ramirez welcomed the students and congratulated them on their admission.

The newly inducted Owls come from Tyler ISD’s middle schools, Tyler High, Tyler Legacy, and neighboring school districts. Students accepted into ECHS understand the commitment they are making and cannot wait to get started.

Acceptance into this nationally ranked high school is just the beginning of what success looks like for these students. With hard work and dedication, parent support, and staff leadership, these students will graduate with their associate degree in the same time it takes to graduate from high school.

ECHS is an application-based collegiate high school that offers students the opportunity to obtain a personalized associate degree in one of many degree choices with no cost of tuition or books. This partnership with Tyler Junior college can ultimately save families around $30,000 per student.

Applications for the program begin on January 1st of each year.
