The Tyler ISD Athletic Department is proud to announce an additional 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Ms. La Kadron Ivery.

La Kadron Ivery, a track and field standout at the former John Tyler High School, was recognized during halftime of the Tyler High School home football game held at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on Friday, October 20.

Ivery, a 2001 graduate, is an American track and field athlete, performer and qualifier in the 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials. She is also a self-published author, writer, small business owner, mentor, public and private speaker, USATF Oregon board member, and certified USATF Official.

During her four years at John Tyler High School, she lettered in track. Ivery participated in the 100, 4x100, 4x200, and the long jump. She was the district champion in the 100 and long jump as a senior, broke the Marshall, Texas, meet record in the 100, and qualified for the state championships in that event as a junior. She won the district and regional titles in the 100 meters as a sophomore, received the Outstanding Freshman Award after winning the 100 meters at district that year, and posted PRs of 11.65 in the 100 and 19-8 in the long jump as a prep.

Ivery received a full track and field scholarship to Baylor University, where she broke Baylor track and field records in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25, the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.8, and in the women's long jump with a jump of 21.11.

Since 2013, Tyler ISD Athletics has honored 64 former student-athletes, coaches, and championship teams who have demonstrated principles of character, citizenship, success, and leadership through its annual Hall of Fame induction process. Former inductees include Earl Campbell, Matt Flynn, Billy Hall, Aaron Ross, A'Quonesia Franklin, Marianne Jones, and various state championship teams.
