Tyler ISD and the Tyler Junior College (TJC) Dental Hygiene Program joined forces for a day filled with smiles as students received free dental exams and sealants. The event, held at Griffin Elementary School, showcased the power of community collaboration in addressing the vital need for dental care among school-aged children.

Excitement filled the air as students eagerly awaited their turn to receive essential dental services. Parents must sign a consent form for their students to receive the free services.

The partnership between Tyler ISD and the TJC Dental Program brought together a dedicated team of professionals, including dentists, dental hygiene students, and instructors, who worked tirelessly to ensure every child left with a brighter, healthier smile.

"This partnership provides amazing opportunities for the TJC students to expand their education while providing much-needed healthcare for our Tyler ISD students," said Rachel Barber, Tyler ISD Director of Health Services. "It is always an honor working with the staff and students from the TJC Dental Hygiene Program."

As a result of the partnership, students from Clarkston, Douglas, and Owens elementary schools have benefited from the free dental services.

"They provide excellent care for all of our students while getting the opportunity to obtain clinical practice," said Barber. "It is a wonderful experience for everyone involved, and we look forward to it each year."

Tyler ISD remains committed to fostering a supportive environment where every student has the resources they need to thrive. By partnering with institutions like TJC and their Dental Hygiene Program, Tyler ISD continues to pave the way for a brighter, healthier future for successful student outcomes.
