high school band students on stage playing instruments

Tyler ISD high school band students took center stage with the Dallas Brass Band at the Tyler High School Theater for the first time in history. The concert was a magnificent ending to a week-long experience for Tyler ISD students.

On this magical night, the all-city band students performed with the Dallas Brass Band as they kicked off their National Tour. Before a packed house in a new state-of-the-art facility, this performance ended in standing ovations from those attending.

"A Dallas Brass concert is intended for the entire family,” said Mr. Levine. “Our ideal audience has a range of ages from 5 to 95. Our goal is to entertain and enrich by playing great music while showing our audience how much we enjoy what we do."

The Dallas Brass Band was established in 1983 by Mr. Michael Levine and has since become one of the most refined ensembles in the nation. The Dallas Brass Band enjoys working with young musicians all across the country. Their mission is to visit fortunate public school districts, like Tyler ISD, where they present clinics and workshops for students of all ages.

"A priceless experience for our Tyler ISD band students in new uniforms with both schools performing together in a great demonstration of community unity with beautiful Tyler ISD instruments shining in the lights, and the Dallas Brass Band," said Sandra Newton, Tyler ISD's Fine Arts Director. "It was a magical experience for all involved, and I'm still glowing and smiling as a Fine Arts Director."

The Dallas Brass Band has released seven recordings and has performed at Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and has toured overseas to Europe and the Far East.
