Two children holding books in the library

This week Birdwell families have shown their support for literacy and the library in a big way. The book fair is an exciting time for students and brings back nostalgic feelings to parents and grandparents.  Students have arrived at 7:30 ready to look around and map out their purchases. Each day this week, we featured a special lunch time for families and grandparents to eat lunch with their student and come shop at the book fair located in the library afterwards.

Scholastic Book Fairs, known for bringing books directly to schools for students to purchase, have a rich history dating back to the early 1980s. While the format and technology have evolved, the core mission of Scholastic Book Fairs remains the same: to inspire a love of reading and make books accessible to young readers. They have had a lasting impact on generations of students, helping to foster a lifelong love of books and learning.

On Friday, we will have a drawing for students to receive new books using the money parents have donated by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar.  The book fair will be open until noon on Friday, October 6.  We still have lots of merchandise and books available for purchase. Thank you for the support you have shown our students and library at Birdwell.
