Three students creating bread in the lab

On Tuesday, December 12, fifth grade students got a sneak peek at what Birdwell has to offer on the middle school level.  Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School hosted 57 students from around the district, as well as their own fifth grade students, to complete rotations in our program. They were able to test out the fine arts programs available, as well as the bread making business.

Fine art programs in middle school offer a range of benefits for students, contributing to their overall development and enriching their educational experience. Fine art programs expose students to various artistic styles, historical periods, and cultural influences. This fosters an appreciation for diversity and helps students understand different perspectives.

Research has shown correlations between involvement in the arts and improved academic performance. Students engaged in fine art programs may demonstrate better problem-solving skills, higher standardized test scores, and increased overall academic achievement.  Birdwell Dual Language Immersion School provides a holistic educational experience by fostering creativity, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and dual language skills that contribute to students' overall development.
