bread

Today, District Teacher of the Month and CTC's wonderful new teacher, Chef Strother and her students made beautiful Challah Bread.

Challah is a traditional Jewish bread that is typically braided and is a staple in Jewish cuisine, especially on Shabbat (the Jewish Sabbath) and other holidays. The bread is rich and slightly sweet, thanks to ingredients like eggs and honey. It has a soft and fluffy texture with a golden-brown crust.

Challah is often braided into a specific shape, with three, four, or six strands, each braid holding symbolic significance. The most common shape is a three-strand braid, symbolizing truth, peace, and justice. Challah is usually brushed with an egg wash before baking to give it a shiny finish.

It's important to note that while challah is deeply rooted in Jewish culinary traditions, it has become popular beyond Jewish communities and is enjoyed by people of various backgrounds around the world.
