Go Gold Assembly at ECHS

Early College High School students and staff greeted Heather Rucker of the Gold Network of East Texas Tuesday afternoon at an assembly to honor those who fought and are currently fighting against childhood cancer. Mrs. Rucker spoke about her journey with childhood cancer, the impact that it had on her and her family, as well as her mission to spread awareness and help families in need. The Smith County Commissioners adopted a resolution to designate September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Smith County on Tuesday. 

In addition, Aneesa Cedillo sophomore, was able to tell her journey of childhood cancer and her mission to spread awareness in not only her school but community. ECHS students and staff will participate in the Go Gold Event were all can donate cell phone chargers, blankets, plug-ins, other miscellaneous items, or cash donations to the campus Nurse, Sheila Jones through September 17th.
